Bhubaneswar: Very soon work will be started for realization of the blueprint to make Bhubaneswar railway station as World Class one.
The station will have airport-like modern facilities. The station will be developed into a commercial hub with aesthetic lighting, improved signage, and improved passenger amenities including waiting hall, sources said.
More amenities will be provided to the travelling public. Apart from this, the circulating area will also be developed and will be beautified. Drainage system will be thoroughly addressed. More parking spaces will also be created near Platform-6 side.
East Coast Railway General Manager Vidya Bhushan today inspected the railway station and took stock of the various passenger amenities and facilities required to be developed as part of the station redevelopment plan.
The MoU for Bhubaneswar Station redevelopment was signed between the State Government and ECoR in September, 2019. The station will be developed in collaboration with State Government at an approximate cost of Rs 1075 crore, Bhushan said.
Shopping Complex, Restaurant, Parking and other facilities will be provided in the Station. Two additional lines will be constructed. This will be constructed as a modern business centre. This would be one of the best stations in the Eastern part of India, he stated.
Meetings with State Government officials are being conducted frequently. Detailed project report and plan for construction has been done. After finalizing the detailed project estimate, tender will be floated. Within six months, work will be done as per the plan, sources said.
