Temp Crosses 40 Degree C

 Bhubaneswar: Before the end of March, the mercury soared to 40 degrees Celsius at least at five places in Odisha, for the first time in this season.

The day temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius at Titlagarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Bhawanipatna, and Nayagarh today.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said hot & humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over some districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days.

Due to prevailing dry conditions over major parts of the state and high solar insolation, further rise in maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely by 2°C at a few places over some parts of interior Odisha during next 48 Hours & no large change thereafter over the State, the IMD said.

Consequently, the maximum day temperature would be between 38 to 40°C at many places over the districts of interior parts and between 36 to 38°Celisu over the coastal districts of Odisha during next 4 to 5 days, it said.

At the same time, the minimum temperature or night temperature is also likely to rise by 2-3°C during next 4 to 5 days at many places over the districts of Odisha, consequently likely to be between 24 to 26°C, over the most parts of coastal districts and between 21 to 23°C, over the interior districts of Odisha. Also they were above normal by 2 to 4°C at most places over the districts of Odisha, the weather office said.

As the relative humidity remains in the range of 50 to 70% over coastal Odisha and between 30 to50 over interior districts of Odisha, the IMD advised people to take precautionary measure while going outside during day time between 10 AM to 3 PM in prevailing hot & humid weather conditions over the state

Maximum temperatures observed appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha and normal elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.

Farmers are advised to continue irrigation activities in sugarcane, summer maize, pulses and other crops and vegetables.

Similarly, the minimum temperatures observed an appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha and no large change elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly below normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha
