Leaders Leave BJD

Bhubaneswar: With the approaching dates for General Election for Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly, a number of BJD leaders have started deserting Governing BJD without any hesitation.

Today three senior leaders of BJD including Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty, former Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and ex-MLA Akash Das Nayak have resigned from the BJD.

“I hope this letter finds you at the best of your health and happiness. I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign from the Biju Janata Dal, effective immediately,” Shri Mohanty said in his resignation letter to party President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Similarly, ex-MLA Priyadarshi Mishra too resigned from the ruling party. Shri Mishra in a letter addressed to BJD Supremo Patnaik said, “I started my political career from my student days with Biju Patnaik, the legendary political figure of the State. I have given my sincere service to the people and the party for more than three decades. Due to continuous neglect in the party, I am resigning from the primary membership of the party.”

Shri Mishra, who is the son-in-law of ex-Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani, joined the BJP soon after resigning from the BJD.

Moreover, Aksah Das Nayak, an actor-turned-politician, in a video message, said, “Today after listening to my inner voice, for self-respect and the respect of Korei residents, I have decided to quit BJD.”

He further stated that he would decide on the next course of action after holding talks with the people of Korei and his supporters.

“I was denied a ticket by BJD in 2019 without any reason, I continued to work for the party for the last five years. I have worked a lot and campaigned for the party and strengthened the organisation,” alleged Shri Nayak.

Shri Nayak was BJD MLA from 2014 to 2019. According to Nayak, his life is dedicated to serving the people of Korei in Jajpur district.

Recently, former MLA and BJD leader Dambaru Sisha had resigned from the primary membership of the party.

Anubhav and Akash are also likely to join the BJP, which is emerging as a strong political force against the BJD.

Earlier, BJD leaders Debasish Nayak, Arabinda Dhali, Sidhant Mohapatra and Bhatruhari Mahtab have joined the BJP. Besides, two expelled BJD MLAs–Prasanta Jagdev and Pradeep Panigrahi have also joined the lotus camp.
