Bhubaneswar: To remain fully prepared for any kind of emergency situation like war or sudden strike by enemy, the State Government has decided to form civil defence organizations in all major places of Odisha.
This was stated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi here today.
At present, civil defence units are not functioning at 12 places in the State. So, the Chief Minister has instructed officials to establish new such units as per requirement.
Following the war-like situation between India and Pakistan, the State Government felt the need for the formation of civil defence units involving mainly youths, sources said.
In a video message, the Chief Minister today appealed to youths to join civil defence organizations as volunteers with the spirit of nationalism to serve the country.
“The security of the lives and property of the common people of the country is the responsibility of all of us. Security and service are our top responsibilities. Therefore, I appeal to all people, especially youths to join civil defence organizations as volunteers,” he said.
Stating that youths represent the hope, strength, and trust of the nation, he called upon the youths to come forward to join the civil defence organization as volunteers with the spirit of nationalism.
The interested youths can apply to the concerned district collector for joining in the civil defence organisations, he said, adding, the collectors are the controller of civil defence at district level.
Shri Majhi informed that training will be provided to the volunteers and if needed, they will be mobilised to serve the public with the spirit of nationalism.
Expressing optimism, Chief Minister expressed hopes that many young people will come forward to join the civil defence organisations with a spirit of service and nationalism.
