State Honors Senior Citizens

Bhubaneswar : Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary, SSEPD has that the State Government is concerned about the problems faced by senior citizens taking steps to help them out.

Shri Sethi said this while honouring senior citizens on the International Day of Older Persons observed on 1October by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Shri Sethi, Principal Secretary, SSEPD in his welcome speech highlighted the role of senior citizens in the society.

The programme was attended by the Director, SSEPD Mrs. Niyati Patnaik and other senior officials of the department.

Babu Singh, MLA, Ekamra-Bhubaneswar attended the meeting as the Chief Guest and discussed the responsibilities and duties of the society towards the senior citizens.

He said that the present Government is aware of various problems faced by senior citizens and is taking appropriate steps to solve them.

The meeting was attended by former MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and prominent senior citizens.

Director, SSEPD, Niyati Patnaik proposed vote of thanks.

In the evening, a musical programme was organized by eminent senior musicians and musical Group Ninad.

Earlier SSEPD has organized Yoga program for senior citizens at Forest Park in Bhubaneswar from 6 AM onwards, which was attended by people across the society.
