Bhubaneswar; With heat wave to continue in the State, SSEPD Principal Secretary Bishnupada Sethi has advised his officials to distribute social security pensions to beneficiaries during morning and afternoon hours.
Writing a letter to all Collectors, Principal Secretary Shri Sethi said Odisha is experiencing severe heat wave conditions presently. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail in the State for the next few days.
Pension distribution under MBPY for the month of May is going to begin from the 15th, Jan Seva Divas. The social security pensioners in the State primarily comprise Old Age Persons, PwDs and other vulnerable groups, SSEPD Principal Secretary said.
Hence, the Principal Secretary Shri Sethi advised the Collectors to ensure disbursement of pension under MBPY be continued till 11 AM in the morning and again resumed it at 3.30 pm in the afternoon on the same day.
“The disbursement beginning on the 15th, May must be completed by the 20th. Daily disbursement figure must be furnished by 6 PM,” he instructed.
For the month of May, the SSEPD Department has released a total of Rs 372.20 crore to all 30 districts for distribution of social security pension under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) among 36,51,812 beneficiaries.
“The amount released herewith shall be utilised only for payment of pension under MBPY scheme in accordance with the condition laid down in the guidelines for the scheme and the rules and orders & Government instruction issued in this matter. No diversion of funds for any other purpose is permissible under any circumstances,” read an order of the department.
