New Delhi: In a major career milestone, senior Indian Police Service officer Padmakar S. Ranpise has been empanelled by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for promotion to the rank of Director General and equivalent posts at the central level.
The decision, cleared by the central government, places him among a select group of top police administrators eligible for senior leadership roles across central security and intelligence organizations.
Shri Padmakar S. Ranpise belongs to the 1995 batch of the Indian Police Service from the Odisha cadre. Over his distinguished career, he has built a strong reputation for handling key administrative and field operations. Before moving to central deputation, he held several crucial positions within the Odisha state police setup, including serving as the Inspector General of Police for Personnel, where he managed human resource development and internal postings for the state force.
His extensive background also includes extensive operational experience in central paramilitary forces. He previously served as the Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force, notably leading operations in the sensitive Jammu Sector in Jammu and Kashmir. Currently, he is on central deputation serving as the Additional Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force.
With this latest empanelment to the prestigious Director General rank, he has officially become qualified to head major central armed police forces or central intelligence agencies, marking a significant elevation in his national security profile.
