Odisha ONDC Rollout

Bhubaneswar: The State Administration is actively moving forward with its digital economic transition, steering away from centralized e-commerce setups to foster a more inclusive local marketplace.

Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg chaired a high-level strategic meeting to map out the implementation and expansion of the Open Network for Digital Commerce across the region, focusing heavily on integrating local entrepreneurs into the national digital ecosystem.

The collaborative session saw active participation from key administrative figures driving the state’s technology and agricultural portfolios. Additional Chief Secretary of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Vishal Dev, along with Agriculture and Tourism Secretary Shri Sachin Jadhav, and other senior officers were present to align infrastructure goals with sectoral market opportunities.

The primary objective of this coordinated push is to onboard small-scale merchants, regional farmers, and traditional artisans onto the decentralized network. By moving away from restrictive platform monopolies and adopting open-source protocols, independent businesses in Odisha can expand their market visibility and connect directly with consumers nationwide without facing prohibitive fee structures.

To establish operational efficiency, the project roadmap includes setting up specialized regional hubs to manage aggregate supply chains and introducing targeted localized logistics solutions. This collaborative administration initiative intends to build a level playing field that democratizes e-commerce access, creating a sustainable, interconnected network for independent sellers across the state.
