Bhubaneswar: Shri Dodda Venkata Swamy, a senior IAS officer of the 2001 batch from the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Labour & Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Department by the Government of Odisha.
Shri Swamy recently returned to the state cadre following a successful stint on central deputation. During his time with the central government, he served in key administrative roles under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, including positions as the Chairman of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) and the Development Commissioner of the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).
Earlier this year, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) also cleared his empanelment for Additional Secretary-level posts at the Centre.
A Union Secretary lauded Shri Swamy for his effectiveness and hard work, who was closely monitoring his activities during his earlier stint in Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Shri Swamy in his new role leading the Labour & ESI Department, succeeds Smt.Chithra Arumugam and will handle the state’s welfare initiatives, labor reforms, and administration of the employee insurance frameworks.
