Bhubaneswar: In a major push toward clean energy, the Additional Chief Secretary for Energy and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Vishal Kumar Dev has made a resounding appeal to citizens across Odisha to embrace the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.
Urging the public to step forward and lead the transition to renewable power, ACS Shri Dev emphasized that widespread adoption of rooftop solar systems is the definitive path forward to achieve a sustainable and Green Odisha.
Responding to this high-level call to action, the financial incentives under the scheme have positioned the state as a national frontrunner in residential clean energy adoption.
Residential consumers installing a 3-kilowatt rooftop solar system are now eligible for an unprecedented financial support structure. The central government provides a direct subsidy of 78,000 rupees, which is augmented by a state government top-up subsidy of 60,000 rupees.
This cumulative assistance of 1,38,000 rupees establishes Odisha as the provider of the highest domestic solar installation subsidy among all Indian states.
ACS Shri Dev highlighted the administration’s strategic vision, noting that the initiative serves a dual purpose by advancing state-level energy conservation goals while directly reducing monthly electricity expenses for local families.
Through focused administrative leadership under his departments, efforts are being streamlined to ensure smooth onboarding, faster processing of subsidies, and widespread public awareness so that eligible households can easily access these maximum environmental and economic benefits.
