MMSY For Rural Connect

Bhubaneswar: State Cabinet has cleared the proposal for the implementation of the Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana – Connecting Missing Road Links (MMSY-CMRL) scheme under the Rural Development Department.

This major infrastructure initiative has been launched by the state government with the primary objective to bridge the crucial missing links in inter-block, inter-district, and interstate connectivity of roads.

In addition to mapping out these networks, the scheme specifically emphasizes extending connectivity to unconnected islands in order to improve the accessibility of remote areas.

A major goal of the project is to substantially shorten the travel distance between different blocks, districts, and neighboring states. In the bordering regions, the initiative will focus on establishing direct contact by connecting the state’s internal roads directly to the existing road networks in neighboring states.

This focus on seamless mobility is expected to iron out regional infrastructure imbalances and enhance economic integration across borders.

Beyond improving basic transportation and transit times, the scheme aspires to provide rural populations with significantly better access to health and education facilities, including hospitals, schools, and colleges.

It will also systematically connect isolated habitations to panchayats, local markets, prominent tourist destinations, and centers of trade and commerce. Through these extensive upgrades, the government aims to drive regional trade, generate employment, and ultimately improve the overall living standard of the people in these communities.
