Bhubaneswar: Being aware of one’s duty and responsibility not only makes him successful but he gets respect and commendation everywhere, State Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal said here on Thursday.
Releasing a book ‘Service Uninterrupted’ of former State Governor MM Rajendran, he said that Rajendran is such an example who has created a distinct identity by serving uninterruptedly in many highest posts and glorified it with his strong devotion and innovation.
“He is an ideal and inspiration for the younger generation,” said the Governor.
Congratulating the former Governor for having authored such a valuable book on his long experience and knowledge, the Governor said the reforms initiated by the Rajendran in university functioning were well appreciated and are still followed making Odisha a frontline State.
He also mentioned the importance of women empowerment, child development and nutrition on which the former Governor worked at the highest level.
“Children are always important for him and all steps should be taken to unfold the unlimited possibilities in them,” he said.
Governor expressed hope that the book will find appreciation from all levels.
Stating that the secret of success is about finding out a way to overcome difficulties and challenges, he said Mr.Rajendran practiced hard work and the highest standard of integrity all throughout his life.
“His interest and desire to do something for people drove him to take many bold steps benefitting people and his period as Governor of Odisha was very rewarding,” the Governor said.
Speaking on the occasion, the former Governor narrated several instances and events during his long career as an Indian Administrative Officer serving in different capacities and posts.
He advised the younger generation to put their best in whatever they do and it would give them satisfaction.
The former Governor fondly recalled the support and encouragement he received from former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on several occasions.
He concluded that he wrote the book for posterity.
Former First Lady Susheela Rajendran, Founding Vice Chancellor BPUT Prof Damodar Acharya and Vice-Chancellor SOA Deemed University Prof. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra also spoke on the occasion.
Publisher Narender Kumar gave a brief introduction of the book.
Principal Secretary to Governor Saswat Mishra was also present on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament Achyut Samanta, former Chief Secretaries, former Chief Information Commissioner, State Election Commissioner, and many other distinguished invitees.
The book published by Har-Anand Publications Private Limited has five parts, 49 chapters and 334 pages.
