Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the officials to make Malkangiri Airport operational by 15 January, 2024.
Accordingly, V K Pandian, Secretary 5T to CM is making detailed review and has directed senior officials to go for one of the most crucial Airport Project on Mission Mode.
Malkangiri Airport lies in the Hotbed of Maoists will be crucially important once it is completed and air service begins from the Red Corridor.
Malkangiri Airport will be ready for operation as on 15 January, 2024 and so far land acquisition, diversion of forest land and fencing of the total area have been completed.
Timeline is fixed for completion of infrastructure, licensing, and operationalization of the Airport.
Rs.33 Crore Tender has been floated by the Department of Works for the construction of the airport.
Once operational, the airport will facilitate Intra-State flight operations and it will come up in an area of 234 Acres of land having a Runway of having a length of 1620X30 Meter.
Malkangiri Airport Project will cost around Rs.55 Crore and it will be connecting the Capital City and other States.
Recently Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra visited Malkangiri and reviewed progress of the Major Airport.
District Administration of Malkangiri is extending all out efforts for the ambitious project of air connectivity.
Now soon the Jeypore Airport will be operational and it will be opened with IndiaOne Flight, ready for Flight Operations.
So with completion of infrastructure and operationalization of Malkangiri Airport, South Odisha will be connected in a big way with Air Facility.
With CM’s direction, senior officials of the Department of Commerce & Transport are working Jointly with other stakeholders for fast tracking the crucial air connectivity.
