Bhubaneswar: Renowned Educationist and Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit has all praise for Centurion University of Technology & Management, while visiting the campus of the premier education institution in Jatni.
Prof.Santishree recently visited different teaching facilities and laboratories and skill development training centres in the campus and narrated her experience during her maiden field visit to the Centurion University.
“Let me at the outset say that it’s a totally different experience from the universities. I come from both Madras or Pune or JNU, here I see more about how you are making a different impact on lifelong learning rather and that is very important,” said Prof.Santishree.
The Vice Chancellor said the teaching methodology in the Tech University is very different from the teaching of engineering school in JNU.
“We have only it’s more textbook learning and others we don’t do this in industry skill learning so I think it’s very important for all major universities like India to, you know, align with Centurion University so that maybe together we can make better graduates for India in many ways,” she said.
Prof.Pandit said her thinking for private institutions has been changed after visiting the Centurion University.
“Initially I thought private universities only go for profit, but Centurion University has totally changed my perception because I’ve been told that if you set campuses in rural and backward tribal areas, the government should have done it,” the VC said.
“There are private institutions which are not much committed or perform without any benefits like State or Central Universities. But, the Centurion University is doing the job that the State is expected to do, which greatly impressed me,” she pointed out.
Further, the University is working with people’s needs and necessities with skills that are more important.
“I think skill development training is the area where they will have to make a major impact and this is a change of attitude as well,” Prof.Pandit added.
The JNU Vice Chancellor also praised the laboratories and mechanical sheds where students learn as well as have hands-on experience, which is very important and an absolute necessity for the students to be ready for the industry.
“I think it’s very important that you learn how to do it if you don’t know how to do it just be by giving a lecture in the class you won’t be able to cook see you might know theory very well but practical is the field where our most of our students fail,” she opinioned.
Today many industries say that we don’t have graduates who are fit for the industry so we need to fill up the gap, she said, adding,“I think Centurion University, in its own way, is trying to fill up that gap and that is important”, said Prof.Santishree.
