Following the Transformation of Schools initiative, the State Government is going to set up an Iconic Adarsha Vidyalaya at Andharua, in the outskirt of Bhubaneswar.
Speaking to reporters here, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash has made this announcement on Friday.
The iconic Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model School) will be set up over 25 acres land an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore, he said.
On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, foundation stone of the school will be laid. The school will have Class XI & XII and 500 students will study in the iconic school, the Minister informed.
The School and Mass Education Department will select Best 500 meritorious students from all Adarsha Vidyalayas across the State, who will get admission into the school. All kind of arrangements will be made in the school for the students, Dash said.
Apart from teaching for Class XI and XII, he said, there will be facilities for coaching for NDA and other examinations for the students. The State Government will bear all the expenses of education and lodging of the students, he added. The Iconic School will start functioning from a rented accommodation from the current academic session. Once the school will be constructed, teaching will started from there. Target has been set to complete the Iconic Adarsha Vidyalaya project by 2022.
