Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, Girish Chandra Murmu called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 29 December here at Naveen Niwas.
Mr.Patnaik and Mr.Murmu discussed issues pertaining to prudent financial management, which Odisha Government is adopting.
In fact, Odisha has been appreciated for Fiscal Management and maintaining its prudent fiscal path.
Mr.Murmu along with senior officials of the AG Odisha met the Chief Minister.
CAG Mr.Murmu earlier called on Governor of Odisha Prof.Ganeshi Lal at Raj Bhawan.
Mr.Murmu was on his maiden visit to the State after he took over as CAG of India.
Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy called on CAG Mr.Murmu on 29 December and discussed issues with him.
Principal Secretary Finance Ashok Kumar Meena received Mr.Murmu when he arrived on 26 December.
Mr.Murmu, who was born and brought up in Odisha has been very helpful for the State, said a senior official of the Department of Finance.
While Odisha Government is taking up various Reforms in Financial Management, CAG is wholeheartedly supporting the issues, said he.
Mr.Murmu took over as CAG on 8 August, 2020 . Prior to this assignment he was the first Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Before moving to Jammu and Kashmir, Mr.Murmu served in various capacities in Government of India such as Secretary of the Department of Expenditure, Special Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services and Department of Revenue, and Joint Secretary in the Department of Expenditure.
Before his tenure at the Centre, Mr.Murmu has served on important assignments in the State Government of Gujarat.
He has wide experience in administrative, economic and infrastructure fields and known as an honest, efficient and pro-people mandarin.
Mr.Murmu has all along supported the cause of down trodden, poor and hapless people, admits a senior official in the State Government.
