Cabinet Clears 1282 Cr JJM Projects

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Monday approved three tenders for mega drinking water projects worth Rs 1282.01 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission (JMM).

Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena said six new mega drinking water projects would soon be implemented in the districts of Ganjam, Rayagada, Boudh and Kandhamal districts. All the six projects are targeted for completion within a period of 24 months.

The individual households in the blocks like Rageilunda, Ganjam, Khalikote, Kashipur, Rayagada, Harbhanga, Phiringia, Phulbani, Chakadapada, Khajuripada and K.Nuagaon would get piped water supply through these schemes.

The State Cabinet has approved the lowest tender of M/s. KEC-SPML(JV), Mumbai amounting to Rs 325.75 crore for execution of two Rural Piped Water Supply Projects to provide safe drinking water in Ganjam District out of JJM funding.

By execution of these projects, 6,64,313 people of 304 villages under 86 GPs of 4 Blocks of the District will be benefited. On this account, 1,54,621 people of 81 villages under 33 GPs of Rangeilunda Block, 15,702 people of 06 villages under 02 GPs of Ganjam Block, 1,35,422 people of 74 villages under 21 GPs of Chhatrapur Block and 3,58,568 people of 143 villages under 30 GPs of Khallikote Block of Ganjam District will be provided with safe drinking water.

Similarly, the Cabinet has approved the lowest tender of L&T Ltd., Chennai amounting to Rs. 657.57 crore for execution of two Rural Piped Water Supply Projects to provide safe drinking water in Boudh and Kandhamal Districts.

By execution of these projects, 2,79,105 people of 975 villages under 71 GPs of 7 Blocks of the Districts will be benefited.

On this account, 1,27,638 people of 338 villages under 22 GPs of Harbhanga Block of Boudh District, 27,641 people of 110 villages under 12 GPs of Phiringia Block, 30,608 people of 182 villages under 11 GPs of Phulbani Block, 15,913 people of 65 villages under 05 GPs of Chakapada Block, 39,354 people of 175 villages under 13 GPs of Khajuripada Block, 4,667 people of 18 villages under 02 GPs of G.Udayagiri Block and 33,284 people of 87 villages under 06 GPs of K.Nuagaon Block of Kandhamal District will be provided with safe drinking water

Besides, lowest tender of KEC-SPML (JV), Mumbai amounting to Rs. 298.69 crore has been approved for execution of another two Rural Piped Water Supply Projects in Rayagada District.

By execution of these projects, 1,57,147 people of 474 villages under 28 GPs of two Blocks of the District will be benefited. On this account, 1,44,508 people of 425 villages under 24 GPs of kashipur Block and 12,639 people of 49 villages under 04 GPs of Rayagada Block of Rayagada District will be provided with safe drinking water.
