BOP Celebrates Odia New Year

Bhubaneswar: Biswa Odia Parivar(BOP) organized a vibrant celebration of Pana Sankranti and the Odia New Year at the Khandagiri Community Center in Bhubaneswar today. The event served as a platform to honor Odia heritage and discuss future initiatives aimed at strengthening the community’s global identity.

Shri Sajjan Sharma, Chairman of the organization, presided over the assembly and outlined the strategic objectives and upcoming projects of the Parivar. A significant highlight of the occasion was the official unveiling of the Odia Panjika, a traditional almanac published by the Biswa Odia Parivar.

Shri Rajib Sekhar Sahoo, President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Odisha, attended as the chief guest and inaugurator. In his address, he expressed concern over the overshadowing of ancient Odia culture by Western influences.

He emphasized that Odisha’s historical legacy is not only rooted in art and tradition but also in a once-flourishing maritime trade and commercial excellence.

Shri Sahoo lamented the current negative portrayal of entrepreneurship and called upon the audience to take a pledge on this New Year to preserve and protect the essence of Odia identity.

Chief speaker and noted astrologer Shri Dolagobinda Panda shared insights into the astronomical and spiritual significance of Pana Sankranti. He explained the deep-rooted connection between Odia traditions and the resolutions associated with the New Year.
