Bhubaneswar: Continuing its attack on the Governing BJD over Sambalpur violence, BJP on Tuesday alleged that the ruling party is protecting the perpetrators and conspirators of the communal violence.
Addressing a press conference here, ex-President of Odisha BJP, Samir Mohanty said that lawlessness is prevailing in the State. As the law and order situation has deteriorated, it has created a big question about the safety and security of the people of Odisha.
The murder of a Cabinet Minister and kidnap and murder of a boy in Jharsuguda and similar incidents are happening in different parts of the state clearly shows the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, he said .
Is it not an anti-Hindu mentality to blame the organizers for violence that happened during the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Sambalpur?, asked the BJP leader.
On April 12, during Hanuman Jayanthi procession in Sambalpur, stones were pelted, attacked with lathis and petrol bombs were seized from the roof of some people’s houses. And, anti-national slogans were raised, he said.
But, from Minister Pratap Kesari Deb’s statement, it is clear that the Biju Janata Dal is protecting the rioters. Saraipali IIC Dhiren Kumar Swain clarified in his FIR that there were 150 to 160 rioters, whose videos are circulating on social media. In such a big incident, the police arrested only 30 people, he pointed out.
Shri Mohanty asked who is creating pressure on police not to arrest the other rioters involved in the violence.
Instead of protecting the common people, the police are protecting the rioters at the instigation of the State Government. With the knowledge of the Government, a certain group of people are expanding their empire in Odisha, he alleged.
The free visit of notorious criminals from outside to Puri, Bargarh is a clear example of Odisha’s deplorable law and order system. How did the notorious criminal Guddu Muslim come to Odisha? The relationship between the Bhatli MLA and Guddu Muslim and his partner Raja Khan is subject to investigation, he said.
