BJP Sets Odisha Strategy

Bhubaneswar: BJP targets Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s positive works and also Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s negative factors, to win the confidence of the people of Odisha.

This was apparently the strategy of the saffron party, which after a long struggle could come up to the stage of becoming the state’s principal opposition party by replacing the rival Congress.

The decision in this regard was taken at the BJP’s State Executive Meeting here attended by senior leaders including two Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi.

While addressing the meeting, Mr.Pradhan called upon the party leaders and workers to put extra efforts as the people have accepted the saffron party. This is evident from the results of the 2019 general elections where the BJP candidates won eight Lok Sabha seats and 22 Assembly seats in the state.

This apart, a recent survey also indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is liked by the people of Odisha who have faith in the BJP. “Our Prime Minister’s vision of Purvadoya, Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Bikas & Sab Ka Biswas along with the Atmanirvar programme, will make BJP a winner,” Mr.Pradhan said.

Stating that the organization needs to be further strengthened, Pradhan gave a mantra to the workers. He said: “Seva (service), Sangathan (organization), Sampark (relationship) and Sangharsh (Struggle) will take BJP closer to the people.”

He also said that the guidance of BJP President J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will make the saffron party a winner in the state.

While criticizing the state’s BJD Government on several fronts, the BJP leadership after a brainstorming, prepared a blueprint to expose the BJD Government in the state.

Beginning from issues like Odisha’s border dispute with Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal to law and order and rising political violence in the state, the BJP meeting prepared strategies on how to counter the Naveen Patnaik Government.

The state executive meeting passed three political drafts and prepared the roadmap to win trust and confidence of the people. The draft alleged massive irregularities in the PM Awas Yojana in every nook and corner of the State. Not a single work-order has been issued to a beneficiary in the last one and a half years, it stated.

The saffron party also alleged that Odisha has topped the list in crime against women and missing of children. While there is constant rise in unemployment, corruption has the policy of the ruling BJD and the government. The people are cheated in MGNRGA and other welfare schemes, beneficiaries of which are chosen on the party affiliations and political considerations.

About 550 police stations across Odisha are functioning as the BJP party office while political murders in Odisha continue unabated like West Bengal, BJP State vice president Bhrugu Buxipatra said after the meeting.

He said the police are yet to reveal the progress of investigation into the murder of 16 BJP workers and leaders. The political violence continues in Odisha as it is in West Begnal, he said.

On the state BJD Government’s Central apathy slogan, Mr.Buxipatra said that the BJP led Government at the Centre has sanctioned huge financial assistance for the inclusive development of Odisha, but the state administration has deliberately neglected the developmental works due to its vested political interest and self-propagation.

On the development of the heritage corridor in Puri and Bhubaneswar, the saffron party said that the state government is destroying the heritage monuments in the name of beautification. The BJP demands development and beautification while abiding by the heritage rules.

He said the BJP has also prepared a specific strategy to take on BJD in the forthcoming by-election to Pipili Assembly constituency.

BJD Lawmaker and former Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, however, rejected the BJP’s allegation and said : “Though the BJP has been struggling in Odisha for two decades, it has been repeatedly rejected by the people,” Behera said adding that in democracy all parties have rights to Make their own strategies and implement them.

However, people are the masters. The people have blessed BJD for five consecutive terms,”: said BJD Senior Vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra.”
