New Delhi: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has approved the Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme for 2026 to 2031, allocating a total outlay of 436.93 crore rupees to strengthen indigenous research, technology development, and demonstration across the renewable energy sector, according to Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE.
Shri Sarangi highlighted that the initiative aims to build local capabilities by supporting research and development, pilot and demonstration projects, testing infrastructure, incubation centres, and multi-sectoral collaborations among academia, research institutions, startups, and industry leaders.
According to Shri Sarangi, the comprehensive programme spans major thematic areas such as solar, wind, energy storage, bioenergy, small hydro, geothermal, and ocean energy. It also places a strong emphasis on advancing indigenous manufacturing, artificial intelligence, robotics, grid integration, and circular economy solutions.
A major highlight emphasized by MNRE Secretary, Shri Sarangi is the specific earmarking of 200 crore rupees for the Perovskite PV Manufacturing Pilot Line and allied projects. This targeted funding will accelerate the development and commercialization of next-generation solar technologies in the country.
