Odisha Targets Doubling Milk Production

Bhubaneswar: Secretary of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Shri Prem Chandra Chaudhary, has outlined a comprehensive roadmap for transforming Odisha’s dairy sector on the occasion of World Milk Day, aligning with the state’s long-term vision of a prosperous, Viksit Odisha by 2036.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi and the direction of Minister FARD & MSME, Shri Gokulananda Mallick, the Department of FARD is actively scaling up the White Revolution.

This initiative aims to ensure nutritional security and drive economic empowerment for dairy farmers across the state. Central to this strategy is the successful implementation of the Chief Minister Kamdhenu Yojana, which is providing a stronger foundation for rural development and boosting local milk production.

Secretary FARD Shri Chaudhary outlines the state’s recent achievements and strategic targets. This year, World Milk Day honors the vital contributions of women dairy farmers under a dedicated theme. To fulfill the overarching goal of building a developed Odisha within a developed India, the state government has set a target to more than double its milk production by 2036.

To support this growth, the State Government is executing both the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana.

Financial milestones over the last two years include distributing over Rs.326 crore in assistance to more than 4 lakh dairy farmers.

Furthermore, the state’s dairy cooperative network has expanded to 3,192 societies, helping increase daily milk collection from 5.25 lakh liters to 7.10 lakh liters.

Along with the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Scheme, OMFED is being further empowered, and the people’s government’s continuous efforts are ongoing to increase the income of milkmen.

With 21 new milk chilling centers, increased production, and market expansion, Odisha is moving ahead in the direction of a ‘Milk Revolution’.
