MNRE Bioenergy Indigenization Push

New Delhi – A crucial Stakeholder Meeting on Indigenized Manufacturing of Bioenergy Equipment was chaired today by Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The meeting was organized as part of a significant effort to strengthen India’s domestic bioenergy-based manufacturing ecosystem. Discussions focused on several key areas essential for achieving self-reliance in the sector.

The primary objectives were to: Identify the challenges currently hindering indigenized manufacturing, understand the specific bioenergy equipment that is being imported and the underlying reasons for this dependence and map the overall sector’s landscape to pinpoint areas for intervention.

Stakeholders present outlined a tentative roadmap for future action and thoroughly examined existing gaps in technology, R&D, and domestic capabilities. They suggested concrete steps designed to strengthen indigenized production.

Further discussions included sharing valuable inputs on necessary ancillary support systems and policy needs that would help accelerate the development of India’s indigenized bioenergy manufacturing ecosystem. The consensus was a clear commitment to fostering domestic capacity and reducing reliance on imports for critical bioenergy technology.
