Bhubaneswar: The majority of Adolescents with Disabilities (AwDs) face considerable challenges, when it comes to identifying and nurturing their creative expressions in current special school education settings due to several infrastructural and attitudinal barriers, said Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister, SSEPD.
Sri Panda, addressing the Inaugural program of a two days consultative workshop on “Nurturing Creative Expressions of AwDs : Pathways to 5T Transformation in Special Schools” said that nurturing creative expressions can lead to the development of hobbies, which, with, sustained effort and dedication, can evolve into specific hobbies.
Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary, SSEPD graced the occasion. Shri Sethi said 5T Charter is implemented in Department of SSEPD to transform this sector.
These improved skills may eventually become the foundation for a fulfilling career, said the Minister.
The Workshop, organised by SSEPD Department, Government of Odisha with collaboration of UNFPA is aimed to develop guidelines of identifying, nurturing and integrating creative expressions in the special schools towards achieving a larger objectives of 5T transformation of Special Schools under the SSEPD Department.
Dillip K.Ray, Special Secretary and Nadeem Noor, State Head, UNFPA, Odisha and other participants deliberated on the issue while emphasizing on 5T Transformation for better future of AwDs.
Representatives of about 90 NGOs managing the Special Schools were present in Workshop.
