Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a spectacular display of Odia Asmita, cultural pride and administrative milestone on June 12, 2026, as the state-level celebration marked the successful completion of two years of the BJP-led government in Odisha. The grand event, held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Unit-3, celebrated the two years at the helm for Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi. The entire arrangement for this massive celebration was orchestrated by the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, showcasing a deep-rooted commitment to the state’s heritage.

The flawless execution of the grand show was led by Dr. Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, Secretary of Odia Language, Literature and Culture. Known as an honest, suave, and exceptionally hardworking bureaucrat, Dr. Upadhyay meticulously organized the event with high precision. His dedication mirrors the government’s core mission to protect and elevate Odia Asmita, seamlessly aligning with the BJP government’s continuous efforts to project Odia Swabhiman (self-respect) and Samman (honour) in the daily lives of the people across Odisha.

The evening commenced at 05:00 PM with the arrival of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, followed by the dignitaries taking their places on the stage. The atmosphere turned deeply emotional and patriotic with consecutive renditions of Vande Mataram and the State Anthem, Bande Utkal Janani. Following the traditional lighting of the lamp and the felicitation of the esteemed guests, the Principal Secretary of Public Works Department (PWD) and Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh delivered the welcome address.

The Information and Public Relations Department showcased a special video highlighting the key achievements of the government over the past two years. The audience was then addressed by several high-profile leaders, including the Member of Parliament from Bhubaneswar, Shrimati Aparajita Sarangi, Minister of Law, PWD & Excise, Shri Prithiviraj Harichandan and the Minister of Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Shri Krushna Chandra Patra. The Deputy Chief Minister, Shrimati Pravati Parida, who also handles Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism, addressed the gathering, setting the stage for major welfare launches.

A significant highlight of the evening was the focus on public welfare and technological empowerment. After a video presentation on the Mukhya Mantri Annapurna Yojana, the Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi officially launched the scheme via remote control and personally distributed cards to five beneficiaries. This was followed by a presentation on Digital Kranti by the Women & Child Development Department. Through remote access, Chief Minister Shri Majhi launched a massive smartphone distribution drive for all Anganwadi Workers, Lady Supervisors, and Block Coordinators across the state, alongside the launch of Subhadra Shakti Sambad. Five Anganwadi workers received their smartphones directly on stage.

The event also underscored infrastructural advancements. Video presentations highlighted major urban development projects, including the inauguration of the road from the Institute of Mathematics to Infocity via Ekamra Kanan, the foundation stone laying of Janasraya Bhavan in Unit-2, and the commencement of work on the Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan road.
