Bhubaneswar: Odisha University of Technology and Research will be transformed into a Center of Excellence in engineering education.
Secretary to CM VK Pandian, accompanied by Principal Secretary Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education, Hemant Sharma visited the Odisha University of Technology & Research(OUTR) in Ghatikia here Saturday to discuss the state of infrastructure development.
A decision in this regard was taken by the Cabinet on 14 July, 2021
The Chief Minister has approved Rs 300 crore in the first phase for the upgradation of the Institute and it has been decided to open four more departments.
Notably, the university has 27 departments and over 6,000 students are pursuing education in this institution.
The State Government has decided to make it one of the leading educational institutions in the country. The move will especially benefit engineering students.
Mr.Pandian discussed with the university authorities and departmental secretaries the details of the university’s proposed master plan, including the need for infrastructure, the need for staff and faculty.
Secretary to CM toured various laboratories and smart classes at the university. He also interviewed students from various departments of the university and took feedback from them.
The students were pleased to hear from the Secretary to CM in person and to improve their education.
According to officials, the education system was badly hit and disrupted across the country during the Covid pandemic. Hence, the State government is initiating steps to improve the education system through the transformation of schools and colleges across the state.
In this direction, steps are now being taken to transform universities.
