New Delhi: A delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) recently visited the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on 28 May. Team GIZ called on MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi.
Team GIZ briefed the Secretary MNRE on the upcoming 6th AgriVoltaics World Conference set to take place in Freiburg, Germany, from July 1-3, 2025.
The discussions underscored the strong and ongoing Indo-German cooperation under the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) to accelerate sustainable energy and agrovoltaic solutions. Both sides highlighted the mutual benefits of such collaborations in advancing renewable energy goals and optimizing land use through integrated solar power generation and agriculture.
The GIZ delegation provided insights into the conference’s agenda, which will bring together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers from around the globe to discuss advancements, challenges, and opportunities in agrivoltaics. The conference aims to foster high-level scientific exchange and networking in the dual-use solar and agriculture sector.
MNRE Secretary Shri Sarangi expressed keen interest in the developments and reaffirmed India’s commitment to exploring innovative solutions like agrivoltaics for enhancing energy security and agricultural productivity.
The meeting also touched upon various ongoing initiatives under IGEF, emphasizing the shared vision of both nations for a sustainable energy future.
