Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today exhorted the newly appointed school teachers to treat teaching as a mission, not just a job.
“You are all young and very enthusiastic. So don’t take teaching as a job and take it up considering it as a mission. I believe you will play an important role in brightening the future of the children of my Odisha,” advised CM Patnaik while addressing the newly appointed teachers at the Kalinga hockey stadium here today.
As many as 6891 teachers have joined the School and Mass Education department of the state government today. An orientation program was organized for these newly appointed teachers at this stadium.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the teacher recruitment program is continuing vigorously in the state. He said that more than 14 thousand teachers have been recruited in the last 3 years.
Congratulating them for joining a great profession like teaching, the Chief Minister said that teachers are the builders of the nation. The pride of a race. “You are taking the sacred responsibility of building the future generation of the country. You should remember education not only changes the destiny of an individual or a family or a society, it changes the destiny of a nation,” he told the teachers who were overwhelmed seeing the Chief Minister personally coming and welcoming them which had never happened before in the state.
Highlighting the 5T programs of the government, he said that education is the most powerful way of transformation. Transparency, technology, teamwork, time and transformation are the mantras of our administrative system, he said.
Giving information about the transformation of schools, he said that so far the work of about 4000 schools in the state has been completed. By December 2023, another 4800 schools will be transformed.
The Chief Minister said, “You must have seen the new look of the school in your village, in your Block as well. A change in school brings out new enthusiasm in the child. It is your responsibility to convert that passion into success in life.” He said that only the knowledge, dedication and determination of our teachers can bring real transformation in the field of education.
Minister for Industries and Energy Pratap Dev and Minister for Water Resources and Commerce & Transport Tukuni Sahu, who participated in the program, expressed the view that the school transformation program has created new opportunities for children in the major education sector and created a new identity in the field of education. They expressed the hope that the role of teachers is important for the future transformation of students and that the new teacher trainees will discharge their duties releasing this responsibility.
In the program, 3 teachers – Pavitra Kara, Pramita Patnaik and Jayashree Padhi described their experience and said that this training program being held in the presence of the Chief Minister sends a message to the whole world that teachers are welcomed and respected in Odisha. Highlighting the recruitment process, he said that all of us have been recruited in a very transparent process and we will work for the intellectual and material development of the students with full commitment.
On this occasion, the Minister of School and Mass Education Samir Ranjan Das said that the teacher recruitment program in the state has been streamlined. He advised to lay emphasis on developing the creative talents of children. Proposing a vote of thanks Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari said that due to the transformation of schools, the education system of the state has become world class.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Principal Secretary School and Mass Education Bishnupada Sethi, Secretary to CM, VK Pandian and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
