Bhubaneswar: The Regional Plant Resources Centre (RPRC) in Bhubaneswar has a new Chief Executive in Shri Sudhanshu Sekhar Khora. The appointment has generated considerable enthusiasm, particularly among the regular morning visitors of Ekamra Kanan Botanical Gardens and the scientists at the research center.

2009 Batch IFS Officer, Shri Khora, known for his dedication to environmental causes brings a unique perspective to his new role.

RPRC with the 500-acre botanical garden, a popular tourist attraction supported by the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, is seen as a significant advantage with presence of Shri Khora. Hundreds of people visit Ekamra Kanan daily to immerse themselves in its natural beauty.

The appointment has sparked optimism among the morning walkers who frequent the park. They anticipate a renewed focus on maintaining and enhancing the green space they cherish.

Scientists at the RPRC also expressed positive expectations. A senior scientist, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the previous management had not provided adequate impetus for research on plants. “Scientific temper needs to be maintained, and more research is crucial,” the scientist stated.

Another senior scientist lauded Shri Khora’s appointment, remarking, “Now RPRC is under a perfect protector.” The scientist further added, “Lot of new interventions are needed, and we expect a very positive response from Shri Khora, who understands the environment, plants, and Ekamra Kanan so well.”

The scientists are hopeful that Shri Khora’s understanding of environmental issues and his familiarity with Ekamra Kanan will translate into increased support for research initiatives and the overall development of the RPRC as a leading institution in plant science and conservation.

The Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change continues to extend its support to Ekamra Kanan, and with Shri Khora at the helm of RPRC, a new chapter of growth and focus on scientific advancement is anticipated.
