Bhubaneswar: The State government will make all our effort to strengthen the Odisha State Child Protection Rights Commission (OSCPCR) to provide speedy justice to the child in distress.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said this while addressing at the 14th Foundation Day of Odisha State Child Protection Rights Commission (OSCPCR) here today.
Parida, who attended the programme as the chief guest, said that the government is very much sensitive to the protection of children from exploitation, abuse and sexual harassment.
She opined that all possible efforts will be made to strengthen the commission, and the helpline numbers must be spread to villages for more awareness.
She advised young children to resist the first attempt of sexual harassment. She said that the joint efforts of the government, social workers and voluntary organizations are very important to face challenges like child marriage, child labor and child trafficking.
Shubha Sharma, Principal Secretary, Women Child Development department strongly hoped that by working in harmony, we can establish the overall development of the child.
S Shyni, IG of Police, CAW & CW, Odisha Police joined this program and presented the approach of the police towards child protection.
In her welcome speech, Mandakini Kar, chairman of OSCPCR presented the approach of the Commission towards the protection of children. She requested them to contact the toll-free number (1800-345-4494), which is available from 10 AM to 5 PM.
On this occasion Anamika Oram from Sambalpur district and Asha Sahu from Ganjam district, two teenage warriors who have successfully prevented many child marriages, narrated their experiences.
Added to this Nandini from Jagatsinghpur, Baisnavi Dharua from Balangir district, was felicitated along with these two young warriors. Along with this, Mayurbhanj has been honored as the best district for the overall child protection program and Jajpur district for the best legal service.
