Cuttack: Odisha Excise has seized a huge amount of illegal excise liquor and other materials worth Rs 3 crore during the last one week (January 30 to February 5) as it is on a overdrive across the State.
Team Excise led by Ashis Singh, Commissioner Excise has been continuously conducting Special Drives to control all types of excise crimes for smooth conduct of Panchayat elections, 2022 in a free, fair & peaceful manner.
During the raid, the Field Officers of Directorate of Excise have detected 1050 cases, arrested 832 accused persons and seized 27266 Litre of ID liquor, 3,33,006 Litre of ID wash (base raw material for manufacturing country liquor), 604 KGs of Ganja, 334.71 litre of duplicate IMFL, 26.75 Litre non-duty paid IMFL and 100 Litre Spirit, officials said here on Sunday.
The excise sleuths also found 133.75 Litre ginger /tincture, 97200 pieces of duplicate EAL, 12000 pieces of duplicate company label of different brands, 2,00,000 pieces of corks/ caps and 38 bikes & four wheelers along with other incriminating excisable article during the raids.
Further, the officer of the EI & EB Unit-II, Cuttack & Excise team of Nayagarh District conducted raid at Pimpal village under Ranapur PS area of Nayagarh District today and seized 350 Bottle of duplicate IMFL, 150 Litre Spirit, 30 litre blend of Duplicate IMFL, 4 litre caramels, 1000 pieces of empty bottles, 1 litre essence of Rum. 1 litre essence of whisky, one sealing ,Machine, 4320 piece of duplicate EAL, 20000 piece of duplicate company lable of different brands, 4000 new caps and one vehicle.
The major cases detected during the past one week period are—
On February 5, State Flying Squad, Cuttack & Angul District jointly conducted raid at Raniguda under Angul PS Station area of Angul District and seized 200,000 duplicate Corks (Caps) of different brands / bottles, 96000 piece of duplicate EAL ( Excise adhesive Lable ) and 1200 piece of company lable. All the material was brought illegally from Kolkata. The State Flying squad have taken the matter seriously and are investigating into it, to arrest all the culprits involved in manufacturing & selling duplicate IMFL.
Similarly, Gajapati Excise District has detected one NDPS (Ganja) case with seizure of 240 KGs Ganja with one Bolero Pick up and arrested one accused. Value of seized property is approximately Rs 12 lakh.
On February 4, EI &EB Unit-II, Cuttack detected one duplicate IMFL in Mayurbhanj district with seizure of 100 litre Spirit. EI & EB Unit-II, Berhampur detected one NDPS (Ganja ) case with seizure of 272 KG Ganja at Khamarigaon (K. Nuagaon PS area ) in Kandhamal District. Value of seized property is approximately Rs13.60 lakh.
On February 3, the team Berhampur detected one duplicate IMFL case at Berhampur Town with seizure of 20 cases (960 Bottles) (172.8 Litre ) duplicate IMFL( Mcdowell No 01 Whisky ). Bhadrak Excise Team detected one case with seizure of 65.250 Litre Ginger Tincture in Bhadrak district .Team Bargarh detected one case with seizure of 13.125 Litre Mrityu sanjeevani Sura (Ginger / Tincture).
Balasore Excise seized 67.5 Litre Ginger Tincture on February 2 while the State Flying Squad, Cuttack detected one duplicate IMFL case at Chadheidhara, Jajpur District and seized 553 bottle ( 99.36 Litre ) duplicate IMFL, one Ford ECO Sport Car on January 30.
Directorate of Excise is constantly watching & monitoring the enforcement work of Excise personnel. All Excise personnel were instructed to conduct sustained enforcement work and to ensure that there should not be sale of any duplicate/non duty paid IMFL in their respective Districts and be vigilant & alert at all the time, till completion of election process.
