Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary, Energy & E&IT, Vishal Kumar Dev presided over the 10th Single Window Committee (SWC) meeting under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022, signaling a significant step forward in the state’s pursuit of green energy. The meeting culminated in the in-principle approval of seven renewable energy projects boasting a combined capacity of 149.97 MW and an investment of Rs.1191.47 Crores.
These newly approved projects are strategically designed to bolster Odisha’s sustainable energy infrastructure and harness its abundant natural resources. The approved portfolio includes two Wind Power Projects with a total capacity of 95.7 MW, four Ground Based Solar Projects aggregating to 53.97 MW, and the state’s first Battery Storage Project with a capacity of 0.6 MWh.
Addressing the attendees, Principal Secretary Shri Dev underscored the pivotal role of renewable energy in fostering sustainable economic growth within the state. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to facilitating investments in this crucial sector and ensuring the timely execution of all approved projects.
The meeting also involved a comprehensive review of the progress made on projects that received approval during the 9th SWC meeting. The collaborative spirit was evident with the participation of key officials from various departments including the Energy Department, Water Resources Department, Revenue & DM Department, as well as representatives from GRIDCO, OPTCL, Electricity Distribution Companies, OHPC, and EIC (Electricity).
The proactive policies and streamlined procedures implemented by the Government of Odisha through the Single Window Committee of the Energy Department and its nodal agency, GRIDCO, continue to be instrumental in attracting substantial investments in the renewable energy sector. This strategic approach is steadily paving the way for a sustainable and self-reliant energy future for Odisha.
To date, the Single Window Committee has granted in-principle approval to renewable energy investment proposals worth a total of Rs.12,387.36 crore, encompassing a cumulative capacity of 1,707.56 MW, demonstrating the state’s strong commitment and progress in the renewable energy landscape.
