Bhubaneswar: Following Orissa High Court’s order, Health and Family Welfare Secretary Shalini Pandit has asked heads of all Government-run hospitals to remove 101 medicine stores whose licenses expired from their campuses.
The Secretary Health & FW has written a letter to superintendents of all public medical colleges, chief district medical officers of 24 districts in this regard, today.
Certain campus medicine stores had approached the High Court of Orissa assailing the communication of this department dated 27.02.2015, wherein it was directed that no extension of licence of on-campus medical stores was to be permitted and further, no new campus medical stores were to be opened, Shrimati Pandit said in her letter.
“Despite expiry of their licence agreements, these campus medicine stores had been running their businesses pursuant to interim orders passed by the High Court,” she said.
She directed the hospital authorities to immediately issue ‘vacation notices’ to the 101 campus medicine shops affording therein a time period of 15 days for vacating the premises. All pending dues as per the last executed licence agreements have to also be recovered, she noted.
“You are further directed to take all possible steps in accordance with law to recover possession of the premises immediately after expiry of the 15 days period,” she directed.
Shrimati Pandit asked the officials to submit compliance of the order within two working days without fail.
