Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the Independence Day, steps are being taken to take oath for the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA)” in a joint effort of the Government of India and the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Person with Disabilities (SSEPD).
Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary SSEPD has directed all officials to organize awareness program across the State.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) is entering its fifth year this year. The theme is “Viksit Bharat ka Mantra, Bharat ho Nashe se Swatantra”.
The SSEPD Department has requested to organize the oath taking ceremony for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on 12 August, at 9AM.
To create awareness in all schools, colleges, universities, engineering and medical colleges, IIMs, IITs etc. of the state, the oath taking program will be taken.
Along with this, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan will be spread through cultural, social and sports activities.
All these programs will be managed through district level coordinators. Drug addiction is now a major problem in the state. As a result of this, violence, murder, robbery and accidents are increasing. This decision has been taken by the department as the youth is being targeted by the use of drugs, officials said.
