Bhubaneswar: Ahead of elections in the State, the Government today announced financial assistance for women SHGs.

The State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal to this effect. Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, Minister Panchyati Raj, Pradip Kumar Amat briefed Media.

Speaking to media persons, Mission Shakti Secretary Sujata Rout Karthikeyan said the State Cabinet approved financial support for SHG Members and EC/MC members for uniforms and blazers.

About 70 lakh SHG members will get assistance of Rs 1000 each for uniforms while 1.5 lakh EC and MC members will get assistance of Rs 2000 each for blazers, she said.

The State Government will spend around Rs 730 Crore for this purpose, she added.

Under the 5T initiative of the state, Mission Shakti has become a vibrant women empowerment model in the country. The State Government’s commitment to women’s empowerment via Mission Shakti has boosted their entry into sunrise sectors, fostering economic independence. Investments in SHG infrastructure and innovative convergence models among state departments have bolstered women’s entrepreneurial efforts, she added.

The Cabinet has accorded its nod to the newly announced schemes—”Mukhyamantri Baristha Bunakar & Karigara Sahayata Yojana”.

The State Cabinet have approved the proposal to sanction the lease of government land measuring 1acre in favour of Odisha Kulta Samaj at Puri in Mouza-Puri Sahar Unit-No-34, Balukhanda under Puri Tahasil free of Premium, said Chief Secretary P K Jena.

As per a decision of the Cabinet, under Nua O Programme, students will receive an annual scholarship of Rs. 9,000 for boys and Rs. 10,000 for girls. The SC/ST students and children of construction workers pursuing UG/PG as above will get scholarships at higher rates of Rs 10,000 and Rs 11000 for male and female students respectively, he stated.

The scheme entails a total outlay of Rs. 3701.08 crores over 5 years from 2023-24 to 2027-28.

The Government has approved outlay of Rs.1412.79 Crore for Integrated Development of Heritage & Monuments and Tourist Destination (IDHMTD), he said.

The objective of the scheme is to preserve and revitalize the Heritage Monuments and Temples to reflect Odisha’s unique character by encouraging integrated development of an aesthetically appealing, accessible, informative and secured environment, combined with efficient public facilities and infrastructure. So far, 159 projects have been taken up under the scheme with estimated cost of all such projects amounting to Rs.1412.79 Crore, Shri Jena informed.
