CM Sets Corner Stone For JSW Steel Complex

Paradip: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid the foundation stone for the mega Greenfield integrated steel manufacturing complex of JSW Steel at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.

The Chief Minister was joined by JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, Parth Jindal, Director JSW, Pratap Keshari Deb, Minister, Industries, Kartik Pandian, Chairman of 5T, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries Dept, Anil Kumar Singhand other dignitaries.

Addressing the foundation stone ceremony, the Chief Minister said that the memory of his father and legendary Biju Babu comes to his mind whenever he comes to Paradip.

In the early 1960s, Biju Babu took a revolutionary decision and established Paradip Port. It was a milestone in the development of Odisha. Today Paradip has become one of the major investment destinations in Eastern India, he said.

Paradip’s reputation as a port city also grew. Happily, the foundation stone for JSW’s mega steel plant was laid here today. Along with this, the foundation was also laid for a green ammonia plant and state-of-the-art chemical plant. All these industries have brought about Rs 90,000 crores of capital investment for Odisha. In addition, 35,000 jobs will be created through these projects, he said.

The Chief Minister thanked the Industrial Titan for making these investments.

Highlighting the cooperation of Jindal Group for industrial growth in Odisha, the Chief Minister said that Jindal Group has an important partnership in our journey to make Odisha a major industrial hub of the country.

Along with this, he said that development is the identity of Odisha today. A new era has begun in the fields of industry, infrastructure, education, health in the State.

“Odisha’s development trend has become brighter in the 5T initiative. Common people, farmers, women, and youth have become our development partners. We are taking forward our program to build a new Odisha,” Shri Patnaik noted.

Thanking the people of Paradip and Jagatsinghpur districts for their cooperation in the industrial development of Paradip, the Chief Minister said that all the families of the region will benefit from this industrialization.

JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal said “Today is a very special day in the life of@ jsw steel as we lay the foundation stone of the long cherished steel plant at Paradip in the state of Odisha. This would be the first steel plant with the largest capacity of 13.2 million tons to start with”.

The integrated green steel project by JSW Steel is expected to drive economic growth in the region by fostering a robust ancillary and downstream ecosystem with employment potential of approx.30,000 direct & indirect jobs.  

The Integrated Complex has been envisaged as one-of-its-kind world-class green technology steel manufacturing facility. It will adopt a circular economy practice and will be an exemplary model across the globe for its cleanliness, greenery, and best in class technologies.

It includes: world-class integrated steel manufacturing facility with capacity of 13.2 MTPA, captive power plant to generate and supply power requirements of the facility, captive jetties with cargo-handling capacity, cement manufacturing unit, and Modern Township and other components.

JSW Steel’s Greenfield integrated green steel complex will be set up at Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadakujanga under Erasama Tehsil, Jagatsinghpur district.

The Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has handed over 2,958 acres of land to JSW for setting up the integrated manufacturing facility with 30 per cent of the total project land to be dedicated for preservation of forests and water bodies.

The JSW Steel & JSW Group entities have envisaged an investment of approximately Rs 65,000 crore, subject to necessary approvals, in order to establish this integrated complex in a phased manner.

The ground-breaking ceremony hosted more than 30,000 people from neighboring villages, people’s representatives, technocrats and industry experts.
