Bhubaneswar: Union Secretary Steel, Nagendra Nath Sinha has harped on recent trends on Skilling needed in Steel Sector.
Shri Sinha, who is on Odisha visit addressed Industry oriented Skill Development Program on “Different routes on Iron and Steel Making” which has been organised by Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute.
As part of Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPNSI)’s Campus to Corporate Connect Series, a two-day industry oriented Skill Development Program was inaugurated by Union Steel Secretary Shri Sinha.
BPNSI organized the two days long Skill Development Program at State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training Conference Hall.
The workshop on Iron and Steel Making, has been blended with a soft skills module so that students aspiring for working in the corporate sector are acquainted with the nuances of professional skills required in the work environment.
Union Steel Secretary Shri Sinha stressed the importance of keeping abreast of trending technologies such as Industry 4.0 and the need for innovation, as also collaborating for the benefit of stakeholders of the steel sector and the overall ecosystem.
He delivered an illuminating lecture to the participants about the current trending on skilling in Iron and Steel manufacturing.
Arun Kumar Rath, former CEO of Bhilai Steel Plant, SAIL, currently with AMNS, was the Guest of Honour in this program.
Diploma Engineering Students and Faculty of Ganesh Institute of Engineering and Technology have participated in this workshop.
Professor Suresh Chandra Patnaik had made an elaborate deliberation on Iron and Steel Making to the participants.
Simanta Mohanty trained the participants about Man Management and Soft Skills.
Director, BPNSI Pritam Shankar Purakayastha, while initiating the start of the program outlined the relevance of the programme in equipping the students for their professional journey.
He also summarised the takeaways of the workshop, and laid stress on safety at the workplace.
This programme provides a plant visit so that participants are able to appreciate the real working of a steel plant. This time, the students are visiting Tata Steel KalingaNagar as part of the skilling program.
