Bhubaneswar: As a major move toward structural modernization and enhanced transparency in Indian sports administration, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) unanimously approved crucial amendments to its Constitution during a Special General Body Meeting held at the Prachi Sarovar Premier in Bhubaneswar.
The high-level meeting was chaired by NRAI President Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo. Under his leadership, the general body voted to align the federation’s governing framework with the statutory provisions of the landmark National Sports Governance Act (NSGA), 2025.
Addressing the house, Shri Singh Deo emphasized that embracing the regulatory standards of the NSGA 2025 is vital for securing the long-term future of Indian shooting. He noted that the unanimous backing from the general body reflects a collective determination to build a more robust, accountable, and athlete-centric ecosystem. As India gears up for major international assignments, including the upcoming Asian Games, these constitutional reforms ensure that the NRAI remains fully compliant with the country’s updated sports laws while maintaining its strong standing with the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

The approved amendments establish formal statutory mechanisms within the NRAI, including structured committees for athlete welfare, a strict code of ethics, and streamlined internal dispute resolution, as mandated by the new legislation. Sports administrators present at the venue lauded Shri Singh Deo for proactively guiding the federation into this new era of governance, ensuring the Indian shooting team receives uninterrupted operational and developmental support.
By executing these structural changes, the NRAI has set a strong benchmark for other national sports federations in India. The successful conclusion of the meeting in Odisha reinforces the governing body’s commitment to prioritizing transparency, protecting athlete interests, and strengthening grassroots pathways for shotgun, rifle, and pistol disciplines nationwide.
