Similipal Tiger Protection Force In Action

Baripada: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests(PCCF) Wildlife Susant Nanda inspected the newly created Simlipal Tiger Protection Force. 

Shri Nanda, who is extensively moving in the Similipal Tiger Reserve reviewed the activities of Six such units, which are now in operation.

These Units are aided by ex Servicemen and 15 Protection Assistants. Shri Nanda motivated the Members of STPF.

STF has been successful in seizing arms and ammunitions from the Wildlife criminals and huge cache of seized guns was displayed to the Public and Media.

In order to protect the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) and its wildlife in view of the killing of two forest frontline workers by alleged poachers, the Odisha government has set up the STPF.

STPF headed by the Field Director of STR, the Task Force has been assigned the key responsibilities of collecting intelligence, identifying people holding illegal arms and ammunition and de-weaponing fringe/buffer villages of the tiger reserve and to prepare a database.

Huge cache of arms seized from the wildlife criminals was displayed for Public and Media.

After Shri Nanda taken over as PCCF Wildlife, participation of public in information dissemination has gone up as the Wildlife Organization is connected to people.


Implementing 5T Charter, State Wildlife Organization is implementing projects in a time bound manner, which is yielding results, said a senior DFO.

Continious visit of Head of Wildlife Organization has motivated the Team Similipal and they are hyperactive in nabbing the criminals and poachers.
