Bhubaneswar: The appointment of Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Principal Secretary of Finance, with additional charge of Principal Resident Commissioner(PRC) in New Delhi marks a strategic shift in the administrative coordination between the Government of Odisha and the Government of India.
Known for his reputation as an honest, hard working and suave bureaucrat, Shri Mishra brings a high level of professional integrity and a sophisticated approach to inter-governmental relations. Shri Mishra has also served as Resident Commissioner earlier and has indepth knowledge on the administrative system of the RC Office, New Delhi.
The decision comes at a critical juncture when several state-related matters have faced delays at the central level. Observers note that the Resident Commissioner’s office has previously encountered challenges in maintaining a swift pace of coordination, leading to a significant backlog of pending issues within various Ministries in Government of India.
Shri Mishra’s deep professional network within the Government of India is expected to serve as a vital asset in resolving these bottlenecks. With many of his batchmates currently positioned in key roles across various Union Government Ministries and the Prime Minister’s Office, his appointment is being viewed as a move to leverage personal and professional synergy for official gain.
By bridging the communication gap between Bhubaneswar and New Delhi, Shri Mishra is tasked with streamlining the flow of information and accelerating the approval processes for state projects. His dual role allows for a more integrated financial and administrative perspective when negotiating state interests at the national capital.
The administration anticipates that this leadership change will transform the Resident Commissioner’s office into a more proactive and effective liaison hub, ensuring that Odisha’s developmental priorities receive timely attention from the Government of India.
