Revenue Collection On Rise

Bhubaneswar: State’s revenue collection has registered a growth of 12.9 percent till August of the current financial year 2023-24 over the corresponding period of previous year.

Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary Finance is regularly monitoring collection of revenue in the State.

According to official data, the State Government has collected revenue of Rs 41,231 crore till end of August, 2023 which is 39 per cent of the Annual Bidget Estimate (Rs.1,05,500 Crore) The State had collected Rs 36,510 crore during April to August of last year.

State’s Own Tax Revenue collection has recorded a growth of 14.4 per cent during April to August of 2023-24 in comparison to the collection of the same period of previous financial year.

Total Own Tax Revenue collection till end of August, 2023 is Rs 20,131 crore which is 38 per cent of the Budget Estimate (Rs 53,000 Crore). The State had collected Rs17,587 crore Own Tax revenue during the same period of last year.

Similarly, Total Own Non-Tax Revenue (ONTR) collection till end of August is Rs 21,100 crore which is 40.2 percent of the Budget Estimate (Rs 52,500 Crore). The ONTR has registered a growth of 11.5 percent till August end against the collection of Rs 18,923 crore during April to August of 2022-23.

The mining revenue collection has witnessed a minimal growth of 2.8 per cent till August end. The State has collected Rs 17,250 crore from this source during the current year in comparison to the collection of Rs 16,784 crore during the last year.

The Share Tax till end of August, 2023 is Rs.17,319 crore which is 37.5 percent of the Budget Estimate 2023-24. It has a growth of 20.4 percent over the corresponding period of previous year. The Grants from Centre till end of August, 2023 is Rs.6,216 crore which is a growth of 77.9 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.

Till August end, only 18.9 percent of the Budget Estimate of Grants from the Centre has been realized. The total Central Transfer which is sum of both Share Tax and Grants from Centre till end of August stood at Rs 23,535 crore which is 29.8 percent of the Budget Estimate.

Moreover, total expenditure which consists of both Program Expenditure and Administrative Expenditure, till August 2023 stood at Rs 60,517 crore. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year, there is a growth of about 39 per cent in the total expenditure. At the end of August 2023, total Program Expenditure was Rs 34,303 crore.
