Balasore: In a significant move that has sent ripples through the political circles of Odisha, former Balasore MP Rabindra Kumar Jena has officially resigned from the Biju Janata Dal. Shri Jena formally tendered his resignation by sending a letter to BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik, marking the end of his long-standing association with the regional party.
The senior leader, who previously served as the BJD district president for Balasore, cited personal reasons and a shift in his political journey for the decision. The resignation comes at a time when the BJD is navigating a transitional phase following the 2024 assembly and general elections.
During his tenure with the party, Shri Jena was a key organizational pillar in North Odisha and represented the Balasore constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha. His exit is being viewed by political observers as a notable loss for the party’s grassroots strength in the region.
While the resignation letter has been submitted to the party headquarters, speculation is rife regarding his next political move. Supporters and local leaders in Balasore are closely watching whether the former parliamentarian will join another national party.
