Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also recommended the proposal for inclusion of Mundari language’ in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India.

Inclusion of the “Mundari” language in the 8- schedule of Constitution of India will add a lot of benefits to the Munda & Mundari tribes of Odisha, said Chief Secretary Pradeep K Jena.

It will promote preservation and promotion of the Mundari language and culture, the trend of shifting to other language by the Mundari speaking people will be regulated, stimulating literary activity and more literary activities like publication of different categories of books will get momentum, he said.

The indigenous knowledge and practices of Mundari speaking population will be preserved and it will open a new window for research & studies anchored around preservation and promotion of Mundari Language, he stated.

More than six lakh Mundari speaking Indigenous people will be benefited with this decision, the CS said.

The cabinet decision to recommend the inclusion of Mundari language in the 8- schedule will have no financial implication

The State Government has decided to enhance the corpus fund for procurement and prepositioning of fertilizers from Rs 90 crore to Rs 150 crore, he said.   

The Odisha Government has decided to sign an MoU with Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) for establishment of a world-class educational campus of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) University in Bhubaneswar.

The proposed University will act as a learning centre that fosters national and global engagement in the field of education. This will be proven to be an edge for the Odisha domicile students as SVKM commits to admit 30 percent of its students from Odisha based on merit, said the chief secretary.

The State Government will provide 40 acres of land on lease in Goudakashipur, Jatni, for establishment of the university, he stated.

The Cabinet has also approved tenders of about Rs 1867 crore including maintenance cost for 15 years for execution of four irrigation projects in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts.
