Puri: The 7th Puri Heritage Walk (PHW) was held yesterday with the aim of promoting knowledge about Odisha’s glorious heritage and raising awareness among the general public. This heritage walk, which takes place on the second Sunday of every month, included visits to the Buddhist Monastery at Kuruma, the Archaeological Survey of India Museum in Konark, the Interpretation Centre built by Indian Oil in front of Konark Sun Temple, and the Konark Sun Temple.
However, heritage enthusiasts expressed deep sorrow over the neglected condition of the Kuruma Buddhist Monastery and decided to draw the government’s attention to its preservation. While the beautiful presentation of various research findings at the Interpretation Centre captivated everyone, the intricate carvings of the Konark Sun Temple left participants in awe.
Around 40 heritage enthusiasts from Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, West Bengal, and Jharkhand participated in this walk. Notable attendees included well-known photographer Kishore Bit, Subash Mahapatra, educationist Prakash Chandra Khatoi, and Rabindra Pradhan. The event was coordinated by Biswaranjan Dehury, Dr. Kumar Aurojyoti, Sanjay Baral, and Ashoka Manjari Nayak.
