Bhubaneswar: Central and State Finance Commissions’ grants to the tune of Rs 26,308 crore has been transferred to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of Odisha since the financial year 2010-11.
According to official data, Rs 13,519.17 crore grants have been transferred to the PRIs during the 13th, 14th and 15th (continuing) Central Finance Commission periods.
Similarly, Rs 12,789.73 crore has been released to the Panchayati Raj Institutions during the 3rd, 4th and 5th (ongoing) State Finance Commission (SFC) period.
The 3rd SFC was started from the financial year 2010-11 and continued till 2014-15. During this five years period, the PRIs got Rs 584 crore every year, totaling Rs 2920 crore.
During the 4th SFC period (from 2015-16 to 2019-20), funds to the tune of Rs 7379.30 crore have been transferred to the PRIs of Odisha. In the 10 years period of the 3rd and 4th SFCs, a total amount of Rs 10,299 crore has been granted to the Panchayati Raj Institutions across the State.
An amount of Rs 2490.43 crore has been sanctioned to the institutions during 2020-21 of the ongoing 5th State Finance Commission (SFC) period.
The Centre has allocated Rs 2,107.16 crore to the Panchayati Raj Institutions during the 13th CFC period (2010-15) while the allocation has been increased substantially to Rs 7,965.30 crore during the 14th Central Finance Commission period (2015-20).
During the ongoing 15th CFC period, Rs 3446.71 crore has been released to the PRI of Odisha. While Rs 2258 crore has been transferred to the PRIs in 2020-21, Rs 1188.71 crore released during the current financial year 2021-22.
Out of the Rs 3446.71 crore granted during the 15th CFC, Rs 1308.15 crore has been already utilized by the Panchayati Raj Institution of the State.
Similarly, the PRIs have utilized Rs 385 crore of the 5th SFC grant till now.
