Bhubaneswar: The State Government has decided to celebrate the 70th All India Cooperative Week 2023 throughout the State from November 14 to 20 on a larger scale.
This was decided at a preparatory committee held under the chairmanship of Cooperation Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak here today.
The meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan was attended by Co-operation Secretary Arvind Agrawal, Special Secretary Satish Kumar Mishra, Registrar of Co-operative Societies Uddhav Charan Majhi, State Co-operative Bank President T Prasad Dora, Co-operative Union President Prabashini Sarangi, Joint Secretary Sangram Keshari Rout and other department officials.
The celebrations provide an opportunity for Cooperatives to highlight their success stories, project their achievements and chalk out a future action plan which will provide a direction to the growth of the Cooperative movement.
A detailed discussion about the celebration of the Cooperative Week was held during the meeting.
Co-operative societies are playing an important role in strengthening the economy of the State and also country as well as the livelihood of farmers and small traders. There is a need to further expand the cooperative movement, said Nayak.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Odisha Government is committed to building a “New Odisha, Strong Odisha”, he said.
The Minister said Odisha has topped many agriculturally advanced States in the country and has achieved a unique success rate of 100% in its agricultural market under all RMCs.
Therefore, with the aim of spreading the message of co-operatives to every household and involving more and more people, it has been emphasized in the meeting that this year’s Co-operative Week should be widely celebrated.
In this regard, various programs have been planned. A commemorative guidebook and a special issue of Cooperative Newsletter will also be published on the occasion.
Minister Shri Nayak advised to make the celebration of Cooperative Week a success with active cooperation of all stakeholders.
