Bhubaneswar: Pratapsasan Gram Panchayat, located in the Balianta block of Khordha district, is charting a new course for rural development with a comprehensive Gram Panchayat Spatial Development Plan (GPSDP). Ministry of Panchayatiraj has posted in it’s X Platform.
This innovative “NaveenGram Odisha Model” aims to transform the village into a self-sustaining economic hub by leveraging its rich heritage in brass and bell metal crafts.
The GPSDP, meticulously crafted by the School of Planning and Architecture at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, seeks to foster inclusive growth by revitalizing the local economy, upgrading infrastructure, and preserving cultural identity. At the heart of the plan is the establishment of a dedicated Brass & Bell Metal Promotion Centre, designed to support the village’s skilled artisans and create a thriving craft manufacturing cluster.
Beyond its economic focus, the plan addresses critical community needs through several key interventions. These include the development of an Agricultural Service Centre to support local farmers, significant upgrades to community infrastructure, and enhancements in essential services such as waste management, water supply, and street lighting.
The GPSDP also emphasizes improving physical infrastructure and promoting “placemaking” initiatives. The creation of parks and new gateways will not only enhance the village’s aesthetics but also serve to preserve and celebrate its unique cultural identity.
By adopting a balanced approach that combines economic progress with infrastructure development and the preservation of tradition, Pratapsasan is setting a benchmark for rural vitality in Odisha, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for its artisans and residents.
