Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday approved the master plan for redevelopment of the Shikhar Chandi Temple in the city.
According to the master plan the shrine and its surrounding area on 53.64 acre land will be developed as one of the main attractions of the capital city.
Notably, Secretary to CM, VK Pandian had visited the Shikhar Chandi temple and ordered the preparation of the master plan.
He had suggested that the development plan should be environmentally friendly.
At a meeting here BDA Vice Chairman Balwant Singh made a presentation regarding the master plan prepared for this.
The BDA will take over the management of the area in addition to carrying out these upgrades.
According to the master plan, the total area is divided into 4 zones. Parking space, public amenities and other aspects will be improved in Zone 1 while the Zone-II will have viewpoints and trekking routes.
In Zone-3 and 4, infrastructure, community center, main building improvement, shop house and other facilities will be provided for recreational activities.
Bhubaneswar North MLA Sushant Raut, Shikharchandi Regional Service Association President Kshitish Tripathi and temple servitors participated in the discussion and said that the development of Sikharchandi temple was a long-standing expectation of the local people.
The servitors expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for approving the project.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Development Commissioner PK Jena and Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of various departments attended the discussion.
