Bhubaneswar: Odisha is positioned to host the world’s second Fertilizer Innovation Centre unit following a high-level meeting between state leaders and representatives from the Fertilizer Innovation Centre India at Lokseva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
During the discussion at his office chamber, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, outlined the vision of the state government to accelerate agricultural production while advancing long-term, sustainable solutions.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav graced the occasion.
DCM shri Singh Deo stressed the importance of decreasing reliance on traditional chemical fertilizers and actively driving organic farming initiatives across Odisha to protect soil health and support local cultivators.
The visiting delegates explained that establishing an FIC unit in Odisha would deliver targeted research, optimization of fertilizer application, and efficient nutrient management strategies directly tailored to local agricultural needs. The center would serve as a crucial hub for sustainable growth, empowering local farmers with modern techniques while enhancing overall soil productivity.
The strategic partnership also aims to establish a dedicated Fertilizer Academy within Odisha, designed to pioneer cutting-edge innovation and agricultural research in the state.
The meeting featured key state officials, including Director of Agriculture, Shri Subham Saxena, alongside senior departmental representatives.
