Odisha Launches Police Services on WhatsApp

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has launched an initiative allowing citizens to access 14 essential police services directly from their homes through the ‘Aama Saathi’ WhatsApp Bot, removing the need to visit police stations or official offices. DGP Shri Vinaytosh Mishra officially launched these integrated police services at the DGP Camp Office in Bhubaneswar.

The ‘Aama Saathi’ WhatsApp Bot was originally launched by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi on December 25, 2025, on the occasion of Good Governance Day. Developed through a joint partnership involving the Centre for Modernizing Government Initiative (CMGI), State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Odisha Police, and Meta India (WhatsApp), the platform serves as a 24×7 digital government assistant. Under the Odisha Right to Public Services Act (ORTPSA) framework, SCRB completed the technical integration to connect police services into this unified system.

Through this platform, citizens can apply for various services including character certificates, senior citizen registration, employee verification, reports on lost property or documents, NOC for loudspeaker permission, and tenant or PG verification. Additional services include lost property registration, missing person information and registration, complaint registration, domestic help verification, permission for events, exhibitions, strikes, or protests, copies of FIRs, and copies of final forms for road accidents or theft cases.

To access these services, citizens can save the ‘Aama Saathi’ WhatsApp number 9437292000 on their mobile phones and send ‘Hi’. After selecting a language and choosing the desired service, applicants can upload required details and documents directly in the chat. The system issues a reference number to track the application status, and approved digital documents are delivered back to the user via WhatsApp once processed.

The inauguration event commenced with a welcome address by SCRB Director Shri Abhinash Kumar. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Shri Sanjay Kumar, Police Commissioner Dr. S. Dev Datta Singh, EOW & STF IG Shri Himanshu Lal, Intelligence IG Shri Satyabrata Bhoi, Crime Branch IG Dr. Sarthak Sarangi, and CMGI Executive Director Shri Surendra Kumar Meena were present, while SP (Computer) Shri Amulya Dhar delivered the vote of thanks.
